Printers may have one of the following connection types:

| DEVICE_DIRECT | Print devices directly connected to a VAX node. This includes phyisical devices such as TTA:, TXA:, LPA:, and printers such as the LCP27. |
| DEVICE_LAT | Print devices connected to a terminal server, and hence are always a physical device LTA:, and printers such as the LN03 and LG01. |
| NODE | Print devices connected directly to an Ethernet. This includes printers such as the LPS20 and LPS40. |
Applicable management tasks at a security domain level include add,
modify, remove and report. Applicable management tasks at a cluster
level include start and stop.
